Transfer Petition – You can file a transfer petition to move your case from one court to another. Usually filed to ensure a fair trial or for convenience.

Example: Transfer a case from one High Court to another, or from a lower court to a court in another state

Caveat in Supreme Court – A caveat is a request to the court asking it not to pass any order without hearing your side. If you think someone may file a case against you, you can file a caveat to stay informed and be prepared.

Example: You expect someone to challenge a lower court order in the Supreme Court – you file a caveat.

Review Petition – If you think the Supreme Court made a clear mistake in its judgment, you can file a review petition to request a second look at the decision. It must be filed within 30 days of the judgment.

Note: Only for rare cases where there is a visible error in the ruling.

Civil and Criminal Appeals – If you’re not satisfied with a High Court’s decision in a civil (property, family, contracts) or criminal (theft, assault, etc.) case, you can appeal to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court can correct wrong judgments given by lower courts.

Appeals (Special Leave Petition – SLP) – A Special Leave Petition (SLP) allows you to appeal any judgment from any court or tribunal (except military courts). The Supreme Court may accept or reject it.

SLP is the most common way to approach the Supreme Court.
